After the hospital, a marathon of appointments often begins – with structure, it gets quieter.
Creating an overview
- One central list or calendar colour codes for all appointments.
- Templates for the questions you want to bring to each conversation.
- Important phone numbers (paediatrician, preemie outpatient clinic, out-of-hours service) saved in your phone.
In everyday life
- Bundle appointments where possible (for example two on one day).
- A small bag always packed: maternity/health record book, medicines, a snack, a dummy.
- After stressful appointments, deliberately plan a break – no appointment right afterwards.
Getting support
- The hospital social services, social-paediatric centres or early-intervention services can help with the organising.
- If an appointment overwhelms you: ask your partner, grandparents or a friend to come along.
You don't have to carry this alone – accepting help is part of your follow-up care.
