Bonding with your bump baby: small moments of connection

Gentle rituals to be in relationship even before birth.

Bonding often begins quietly – not every mum feels it straight away, and that's okay.

Ideas for quiet moments

  • Place a hand on your bump and count three calm breaths.
  • Tell your baby about your day – out loud, whispered or just in your mind.
  • Share favourite music: listen to the same song once a day.

With your partner

  • Place hands on the bump together when the baby is active.
  • Use a name or nickname for the bump time.
  • Talk about hopes and worries – both are allowed to sit side by side.

If no connection sets in at all: no reason to worry. Some bonds only grow after birth. If the emptiness lasts a long time, talk openly with your midwife.
